Houses near the trees and the water
Plenty of houses in and around New Braunfels sit under big trees or close to the river and the lake. Shade is nice in the summer, but it also means leaves and branches on the roof. Debris collects in valleys and gutters, holds moisture against the shingles, and sends water where it shouldn’t go.
Overhanging limbs can rub the shingles in the wind or drop onto the roof in a storm. Keeping valleys and gutters clear and checking for limb damage goes a long way toward making a roof last.
Rentals and second homes
Some houses in this area aren’t lived in full time. A slow leak in a house that sits empty for weeks can do a lot of damage before anyone notices. If you own a rental or a second home here, a look after big storms is worth the peace of mind. We can send photos of what we find so you see the roof without driving out.
Hail, wind, and heavy rain
Spring storms can bring hail and strong wind, and heavy rain finds every weak spot in a roof. Worn pipe boots, loose flashing, and clogged valleys are the usual suspects. Here’s what to check from the ground after a storm:
- Shingles that are missing, lifted, folded, or sitting in the yard.
- Dents on gutters, downspouts, vents, and the AC unit, a sign hail hit the house.
- Piles of shingle granules at the bottom of the downspouts.
- Bent or loose flashing around the chimney and roof edges.
- New water stains on ceilings or around upstairs windows.
- Stay on the ground. Don’t climb a wet or damaged roof. Take photos from the yard and call us.
Repair or replace
If the damage is limited, we repair it. If it’s spread across the roof, or the shingles are worn out everywhere, we explain why a replacement may make more sense. We install shingle, metal, tile, and flat roofs, and we can take care of gutters at the same time.
Insurance
We inspect storm and hail damage, document what we find with photos, and can meet your adjuster at the house. We don’t file or negotiate your claim, and nobody can promise what insurance will pay. The claim stays between you and your insurance company.
