Roofs under the pines
Bastrop’s pine trees are part of what makes the area beautiful, but pine needles are hard on roofs. They pile up in valleys and gutters, hold moisture, and break down into a mat that keeps shingles damp. Needles in the gutters also send water over the edge instead of down the downspout, which is rough on siding and foundations.
If your home sits under pines, keeping valleys and gutters clear is the cheapest roof maintenance there is.
Older homes and newer builds
Bastrop has historic houses with steep, complex roofs, and newer neighborhoods with simpler rooflines. Older roofs often have layers of past repairs, chimneys, and flashing details that need careful work. Newer roofs can still have cracked pipe boots and early-wearing shingles. We look at what your house actually has.
Storms and wind
Storms rolling in from the west hit Bastrop with hail and wind, and falling limbs are a real risk under the pines. After a storm, check from the ground:
- Shingles that are missing, lifted, folded, or sitting in the yard.
- Dents on gutters, downspouts, vents, and the AC unit, a sign hail hit the house.
- Piles of shingle granules at the bottom of the downspouts.
- Bent or loose flashing around the chimney and roof edges.
- New water stains on ceilings or around upstairs windows.
- Stay on the ground. Don’t climb a wet or damaged roof. Take photos from the yard and call us.
Repair or replace
If the damage is limited, we repair it. If the roof is past patching, we tell you plainly and walk you through shingle, metal, tile, or flat options. Metal is worth a look under trees: it sheds needles and leaves instead of holding them.
Insurance
We inspect storm and hail damage, document what we find with photos, and can meet your adjuster at the house. We don’t file or negotiate your claim, and nobody can promise what insurance will pay. The claim stays between you and your insurance company.
